Opera, the pioneering Norwegian browser company, is poised to introduce groundbreaking enhancements to Opera One, its flagship AI-powered browser. Setting itself apart from competitors, Opera has embarked on a journey of continuous innovation in browser technology. Rather than simply incorporating AI features, Opera has embarked on a comprehensive overhaul of its flagship browser, Opera One. This move heralds the advent of AI-driven browsing, promising users a transformative online experience.
At the heart of Opera One lies its integrated native AI, Aria, representing a paradigm shift in web browsing. Aria, accessible through both a command line and the browser sidebar, offers users complimentary access to a cutting-edge GPT-based solution, augmented by real-time web data. This integration empowers users with heightened productivity and fosters creative interaction with browser AI, all without the need for additional paid services or extensions. Furthermore, Aria can be personalized to reflect the user’s unique writing style, adding a personalized touch to the browsing experience.
In a bid to stay at the forefront of AI innovation, Opera has launched the AI Feature Drops program, providing users with early access to experimental AI-based features. Krystian Kolondra, EVP at Opera, emphasized the company’s commitment to rapid advancement in AI technology, stating, “AI is advancing rapidly, and so are we.” This initiative allows engaged users to test and provide feedback on the latest AI explorations, shaping the future development of Opera One.
The foundation of Opera’s AI capabilities lies in its proprietary AI engine, Composer AI, which powers all AI features within Opera One. This engine distinguishes Opera One from competitors, such as Brave, by offering a comprehensive suite of AI functionalities rather than a superficial chatbot integration. Through Composer AI, Opera One users can leverage Aria for various tasks, ranging from answering queries to generating text for essays and emails, coding assistance, itinerary planning, and more. Aria’s seamless integration with the internet ensures users have access to real-time information, enhancing its utility and versatility.
It’s worth noting that while Opera One utilizes a GPT API to enhance Aria’s capabilities, the core model behind Aria is not developed in-house. Instead, Opera leverages a “leading GPT-based solution” to augment the chatbot’s functionalities, ensuring optimal performance and user experience.
Opera’s commitment to AI innovation extends beyond its flagship browser, with plans to expand its AI capabilities to other platforms. The recent announcement of a fully green-energy-powered AI cluster in Iceland underscores Opera’s dedication to advancing AI technology. This new data center, equipped with state-of-the-art NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD and H100 Tensor Core GPUs, exemplifies Opera’s investment in creating a robust AI infrastructure to support its evolving AI workloads.
With the launch of the Opera One AI Feature Drops program, Opera continues to redefine browser development, offering users a glimpse into the future of browsing. This initiative not only enhances Opera One’s product but also contributes to the broader advancement of AI technology. As Opera paves the way for AI-driven browsing, users are invited to embark on this journey of innovation and discovery with Opera One AI. The future of browsing is here, and it’s powered by Opera One.
