OpenAI, the company behind the image and language bots Dall-E and ChatGPT, could have to deal with some new, three-dimensional competition on the Blockchain.
CharacterGPT, a non-fungible token (NFT) project powered by artificial intelligence, is being introduced by Polygon in collaboration with Alethea AI.
According to an introduction video, users can write text to generate responsive characters with the brand’s new technology, “unique personalities, identities, traits, voices, and bodies.”
Users at mycharacter.ai can generate the NFTs.
It remains to be seen if CharacterGPT could surpass ChatGPT or OpenAI’s bot-powered Dall-E in popularity, which each draws 1.5 million daily users.
Compared to ChatGPT, which produces text responses to typed inquiries, the CharacterGPT Blockchain solution appears more positioned to compete with Dall-E. Its ability to write persuasive articles, cover letters, emails, and messages on dating apps has generated significant attention.
Dall-E, on the other hand, has raised debate among artists who claim the platform draws inspiration from real-life creators and can deceive viewers with how realistic-looking its high-quality images appear.
According to the company’s website, Alethea AI believes CharacterGPT will let consumers build “digital twins,” companions, virtual assistants, and parody figures, among other use cases.
“Generative AI is advancing rapidly and has the potential to profoundly impact our lives in the coming years,” Polygon cofounder Sandeep Nailwal stated. “I have seen firsthand how Alethea AI has developed this technology over the last few years, and through their CharacterGPT AI engine, users will be able to create interactive characters in a matter of seconds.”
