eBay, one of the largest e-commerce sites in the world, is hiring for several Web3 roles focused on KnownOrigin. eBay purchased KnownOrigin in June of last year. It is a non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace. eBay listed jobs on Linkedin that include crypto counsel, head of community, marketing executive, senior product manager, and others.
For instance, the job description of senior product manager read,
“KnownOrigin.io is an early web3 pioneer, an NFT marketplace empowering a new generation of digital artists to express themselves, find an audience, and earn a living from their passion.
We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to join the team in Manchester.”
These eBay job postings are not surprising, given the company’s gradual entry into the NFT market over the last several years. eBay formally announced in May 2021 that it would allow the sale of NFTs. It has since launched several projects, including a Muhammad Ali NFT collection in collaboration with Sports Illustrated.
eBay’s tech-driven reimagining has resulted in significant improvements to the company’s technology, performance, and customer experience, including tools that make it easier than ever to discover, buy, or sell anything. eBay partnered with fan engagement platform Notable Live earlier this week to introduce users to digital collectibles. The announcement comes at a time when established crypto firms are being forced to cut costs.
In several job postings, the company said,
“KnownOrigin.io is an early Web3 pioneer, an NFT marketplace empowering a new generation of digital artists to express themselves, find an audience, and earn a living from their passion…And they’re looking for like-minded enthusiasts to join them in their venture!”
